INTRODUCING BROAD TOPICS TV!
For Immediate Release:
After 4 years of irreverent talk from the “Broads” of Broad Topics Radio, a TV deal has been struck.
Finally, a TV show for real women from real women who aren’t afraid to say ANYTHING
(Los Angeles, Calif…January 11th 2012) “Broad Topics Radio” hosted by Laura Nickerson, LaFern Cusack, and Lauren Kelley, is making the leap to television. The taping of the new half hour entertainment talk show will begin late March 2012 for cable TV in Santa Monica, CA. This partnership has been made possible by the Commission of the Status of Women in an effort to bring the woman’s voice to current issues.
Since its inception in 2008, Broad Topics has been mixing it up on the Internet airwaves and creating a diverse base of devoted listeners. At the helm of the ship is Laura Nickerson, whose intellect is trumped only by her dry sense of humor, who artfully crafted the show as a means to express her oftentimes unusual opinion on current topics. When asked of her intent for creating the show in a recent interview Nickerson said “My goal was to create a forum for honest discussion of what’s going on in the world from an actual woman’s perspective. Aren’t we all sick of the male media voice telling us all what to think? Besides that, my kids were sick to death of hearing me go on about social policy during Sesame Street.” In keeping with the irreverent tone set by Laura Nickerson, LaFern Cusack and Lauren Kelley keep the witty banter rolling that insures that all sides of a topic are thoroughly explored.
Show producer, Katie Berger feels that this is the next logical step for this pioneer of Internet talk radio. “It makes perfect sense to take our unique voice and reach further, in doing so hopefully we will empower women to fully realize themselves both personally and professionally”.
Laura Nickerson is a wife and mother known for her dry wit and shoot from the hip attitude. She is a well-known host, known as the news anchor for DanceChannelTV.com, reporting on Traffic for Southern California’s Clear Channel Radio Stations, and gracing live events with her unique style. As an actress she has appeared on “Frasier”, “American Dreams” and The National Tour of “Grease”.
LaFern Cusack continues to generate awareness and social change through various media forms by highlighting people and events that inspire, create and shape our lives. As a producer and on-air talent for her weekly shows on 710 ESPN LA’s “The Experience” and Radio Disney’s “Playground”.
Lauren Kelley woke up one day in Northern California, hopped in her VW Beetle, and schlepped south at 19 to pursue an optimistic and fulfilling lifestyle in the concrete maze she referred to as “Hell-A”. C-mon, it’s been over a decade now… You can trust Lauren with anything, especially with giving you her honest opinion.
Established in 1981, the Commission on the Status of Women is charged with working to eliminate inequality between the sexes in all areas of life including, but not limited to, employment, health, education, political life and law enforcement.
